This project required the structural reinforcement of a 1964 pre-engineered building to meet current building code standards. This was accomplished with a hybrid engineered design of conventional and pre-engineered structural components. The existing roof was ultimately replaced with a high Solar Reflective standing seam metal roof, 9" of new insulation and liner panel, and the addition of 24 new skylights. All work was accomplished while allowing the vehicle maintenance operations within the building to continue uninterrupted. The resulting increase in building performance has already resulted in significant energy cost savings to the City of Huntsville as well as increased employee comfort and visibility within the work environment.
