Summary

Dunn Building Company, LLC was the Design-Build contractor for Valley Joist + Deck's new 64,320 SF Joist Plant and 10,602 SF Office / Maintenance Building in Fort Payne, AL. The site is located off of I-59 in an Industrial Park on Jordan Road, and is next to Ferguson Distribution Center. The new facility is a Pre-Engineered Metal Building manufactured by Varco Pruden. The Joist Plant was designed to meet the flow and functionality of the owner’s fabrication processes, including multiple Bridge Cranes for material handling purposes. Also included are the required Electrical and Mechanical systems necessary to operate and support the process equipment and Joist Plant, while ensuring a safe work environment for the owner’s personnel. The Office / Maintenance Building will adjoin the Joist Plant and will include offices for the Joist Plant management and support personnel, as well as Conference Rooms, Breakrooms, Restrooms, and Locker Rooms, as well as a Maintenance Area for servicing various plant maintenance matters. The Site includes approximately 18 Acres of developed area which includes crushed stone service drives and employee parking and a large crush stone lay-down area for storage of fabricated inventory. The Design-Build Team included GMP Architecture, SAIN Associates, LBYD, Inc., Varco Pruden, Al-Cly Plumbing Company with Zgouvas, Eiring & Associates Consulting Engineers, Sentry Heating & Air with Michaels Engineering, LLC Mechanical Consultants, and Bright Future Electric with Gunn & Associates, P.C. Consulting Engineers.
